C. Michael Hazard founded Westfield Capital Management in 1989. He currently serves as an Advisory Board member of Westfield Capital and remains involved with the firm from a strategic perspective. 

 

Meet Our Founder

From 1989 to 2001, Mr. Hazard was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Westfield Capital Management.  Prior to founding Westfield Capital Management in 1989, he was the Co-Founder of Essex Investment Management Company, Inc. Previously he ran the Portfolio Management Service division of White, Weld & Company, Inc.  His career in the investment industry began at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company where he served as a Security Analyst.

Currently Mike is Chief Executive Officer of SM Capital Management.  He is also a director of Dalton, Greiner, Hartman, Maher & Company, New York, a subsidiary of Boston Private Financial Holdings.

Before assuming his present position in 2003, Mr. Hazard was Vice Chairman of Boston Private Financial Holdings from 2001 to 2003. 

Mr. Hazard holds a BA from Yale University and is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Mr. Hazard is Chairman of the Board of the Friends of the South Ferry Church Association in Narragansett, Rhode Island. He serves on the Investment Committees of South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island, Care New England Health System, Kent Hospital, Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, Perkins School for the Blind, and Mother Caroline Academy & Education Center.  He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.  He lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife, Sue.  He is the father of four children and has thirteen grandchildren.
